Taking care of your taxes wherever your travels may take you.....
Specialist in Personal Income Taxes

Tax implications are not always considered in the excitement of moving or purchasing real estate abroad. Since it is often difficult to arrange your affairs retroactively if you have not done everything properly from the start, an hour or two of tax advice before you begin your adventure can save you a lot of money and, more importantly, stress. After twenty years of providing tax planning and preparation for expatriates and inpatriates I have seen all types of situations and can easily deal with them all.
Tax returns that include international issues in them are often questioned by the Canada Revenue Agency or the Internal Revenue Service. Dealing with this can be difficult or impossible when overseas and I will be able to take care of most of this for you before you are even aware that there was a problem. I will work to resolve any issues while keeping you fully informed during the process.

I specialize in people with cross border personal tax issues. The main categories of individuals that I deal with include the following:
  1. Canadians with foreign rental properties - U.S. 1040NR return if in the U.S.
  2. Canadians working abroad - short term or rotational - Regular Canadian T1 return but with some special items
  3. Canadians working abroad - long term - Canadian departure T1 return
  4. Non-residents of Canada with Canadian sourced income - Canadian S115 (employment) or S216 (rental) returns
  5. Immigrants to Canada returning after an extended period abroad - Canadian re-entry T1 return
  6. Immigrants to Canada moving to Canada for the first time - Canadian entry T1 return
  7. U.S. Citizens in Canada or U.S. Resident Aliens in the U.S. - U.S. 1040 return
  8. Canadians with no international issues - Regular Canadian T1 return - Yes I will help you too!
Many people in these situations are not fully aware of tax reporting requirements and I can help sort out your situation with a minimum of fuss. Click on the links above for your situation for more specific information about how I can help you.
